You need to create a 5 slide PowerPoint presentation about a planet of you choice.  Here is an example of some of the information that you need to have on your presentation.

1.  How far is the planet from the sun?
2.  What is the diameter of the planet?
3.  What is the atmosphere of the planet?
4.  How long is one year/one day on this planet?
5.  What is the planet’s temperature?  How hot?  How cold?
6.  Does your planet have rings?
7.  Does your planet have moon?  Do the moons have names?

Here are a couple of links to help you with your planet powerpoint.

SFASU UCLA Logo

While doing your research on the university of your choice, there are a couple of things that we would like you to look for:

1. University Name – Do not write the letters, write the whole name –
SFA = Stephen F. Austin State University
UCLA = University of California, Los Angeles

2. Address – Make sure you write down the entire address. Number, street, city and zip code.

3. Mascot – Ex. SFA is the Lumberjacks, UCLA is the Bruins.

4. Find at least one degree program offered at the school. Example: Bachelor of Science in Education.

5. What date was the university established.

Use the link below to research different universities. The universities are broken down by state. Find the state you are interested in, then find the university.

Good Luck and Happy hunting.

Happy Holidays

Well, we are about to be into 2007 and we need to spend a little money! :)

Here is your assignment.

You have been giving $5,000 to spend for the holiday season. Over the next three days your will be working on ways to spend that money. You will need to spend every penny of your $5,000 to get full credit. Sound fun? Keep reading!

As you spend your money you will need to keep track of where it goes using the paper that Mr. Martin gave you. You will need to write down the name of every object, along with how much it costs. You will also need to write down WHERE you are buying it from. For example, click here to see an object that you could buy.

Here is what I would write on my sheet.
Under what was the item: 1,000,000 Books for needy children.
Under how much: $25
Under Location: Universal Giving
Under Who is the gift for: Sierra Leone’s Children

Pretty simple right? Now if the far column you will need to keep a running total of how much you spend.
There is one catch for this assignment. YOU CANNOT SPEND ANY OF THE MONEY ON YOURSELF! ALL OF IT MUST BE SPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE. This can be brother, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandparents, friends, charities, teachers :) Anyone but yourself.

I am going to include some places to find items on the page titled Spreading Cheer. Good luck and happy shopping!
