<p>Which animals and plants live in a desert? How about a pond or the ocean? What is a deciduous forest? What animals and plants live in a deciduous forest? How do the plants and animals in each ecosystem interact with each other in order to survive?</p>
<p>You are about to find out the answers to these questions. Happy hunting and have fun!</p>
<p><strong>YOUR TASK </strong></p>
<p>You will be working with your partner to complete this project.</p>
<p>* Your first task is to research one of the following ecosystems to determine what types of plants and animals call these places home. (The ecosytems you will research are: the desert, the pond, the ocean, and the deciduous forest.)</p>
<p>* Next, you will create a PowerPoint presentation to present your findings.</p>
<p>* Then you and your partner will create your ecosystem, from paper materials, using the information you have collected.</p>
<p>* Finally, using the PowerPoint you will illustrate and label an example of an environment, ecosystem, population, community, and habitat.  (You can use your book to remind you what each of those words mean.)</p>

<p>Part 1 Researching You are to research these sites to find the following information.</p>
<p>1. You must find at least 2 plants and 4 animals that live in each ecosystem.<br />
2. Where in the ecosystem can each plant or animal be found? What is its habitat?<br />
3. What does each animal eat? Do they eat any of the other plants or animals that you have included in your ecosystem? Which ones?</p>

<p align="center"><strong>While you wait for that, begin to work on your <a href="http://lancesfa.edublogs.org/files/2006/06/Plan_PPT.pdf">PowerPoint Storyboard</a></strong><strong>.  This must be completed and checked off BEFORE you actually begin working on your PowerPoint.</strong></p>
<p align="center"><strong>PowerPoint presentation should include the following:</strong></p>
<p align="center"><strong>1. Title page with all crew members’ names and planet name, with a picture.</strong></p>
<p align="center"><strong>2. Slide two and three should summarize all the data you collected in a table format.  (File &gt;; Table &gt;; Insert Table, there should be 2 columns and 13 rows.)  Look at the table <a title="Table of Planets" href="http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/our_solar_system/planets_table.html">here</a> for an example. Yours will look different, this just shows you what a table should look like.<br />

<h3 align="center"><strong>The Earth&#8217;s scientists have made    a discovery. Instead of the Sun burning out, as we thought, it is getting hotter!    They have released an emergency news bulletin stating that all of Earth&#8217;s inhabitants    will need to be moved in the next ten years if there is any hope for our survival.    They say that the safest places will be on the other side of the Asteroid Belt    on an outer planet. You have been chosen to participate in a mission that could    save the world. So, get ready to become an astronaut hero!</strong></h3>
<p align="center"><em>Sounds like a big job I hope you are up for the task.  Keep reading to see what you are going to have to do to save the human race!</em></p>
<h3 align="center"><strong>Your crew has been    given two months to travel to the outer planets, and prepare a report for the    scientists so they can determine which outer planet will be the next Earth.    Your team of 29 researchers will break up into nine groups to go out and research    the planets. Then, the individual groups will prepare a power point presentation    and written report so that the scientists can make a decision. So to infinity    and beyond, go find our new Earth!</strong></h3>
<p align="center">That is quite a task, do you think you are up for it?  I believe that you can do it.  Keep reading to see what you are going to do.</p>

<h3 align="center"><strong>Step 1- Pre-Flight Training</strong></h3>
<p align="center"><strong>- Gather your crew.<br />
- Choose an outer planet to explore. See Mr. Martin for sign-ups.<br />
- Design your mission patch.- Use PowerPoint to design you patch.</strong></p>
<h3 align="center"><strong><em>Patch should include the following</em><br />
1. Each crew member’s name<br />
2. A picture of the planet you will be exploring<br />
3. The name of your mission<br />
4. Anything else that pertains to your mission</strong></h3>
